Director of Faculty Development for Basic Science and Professor of Radiology Dinggang Shen, PhD, was selected in November 2017 as a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
Dedicated to the advancement of technology, the IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields. Less than 0.1% of its 400,000+ members in 160 countries are selected annually as IEEE Fellows. As noted by IEEE’s Board of Directors, Shen was chosen uniquely for his “contributions to the field of medical image analysis.”
As a Senior Member, Shen has served in many IEEE leadership capacities, including Scientific Reviewer, Associate Editor (IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics / IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering); and multiple reviewer and committee roles. Regarding this honor, Shen noted: “IEEE Fellow is highly recognized in the field, and I am extremely happy to be elevated to IEEE Fellow.”
