In the second week of December 2020, UNC Health joined countless hospital systems nationwide in welcoming arrival of the earliest shipments of the just-approved Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. UNC Health received almost 3,000 doses that first week to administer across its vaccination clinics, and UNC Medical Center Vaccine Clinics administered 225 COVID-19 vaccinations during the first two days.

UNC Radiology clinical faculty, residents and fellows were among the many Phase 1A recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine during December. Getting vaccinated produced a milestone day on the job and big reason to smile for many a patient caretaker in our Department and across UNC Health!
