The basic principle of X-ray imaging involves passing a controlled amount of X-ray radiation through the body, which is carefully controlled to minimize the radiation dose to patients.<\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-diagnose-box\">\n<p>Used to Diagnose:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>bone fractures<\/li>\n<li>arthritis<\/li>\n<li>osteoporosis infections<\/li>\n<li>breast cancer<\/li>\n<li>swallowed items<\/li>\n<li>digestive tract problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-type\">\n<div class=\"exam-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1384\/2023\/12\/ICON-MAMMOGRAPHY-1024x1024.png\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-about\">A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast. The division is proud to offer access to several outpatient centers as well as main campus and Hillsborough hospital. SPECT is a nuclear imaging scan that integrates computed tomography (CT) and a radioactive tracer. It is a specialized type of exam that focuses on your blood vessels. They provide detailed images of the arteries and veins in your head, allowing doctors to assess the blood flow and identify any abnormalities.<\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-diagnose-box\">\n<p>Used to Diagnose:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>blood vessel<\/li>\n<li>abnormalities<\/li>\n<li>aneurysms (bulging blood vessels)<\/li>\n<li>narrowing or blockages in blood vessels<\/li>\n<li>other blood flow changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-type\">\n<div class=\"exam-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1384\/2023\/12\/ICON-CT-PERFUSION-1024x1024.png\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" class=\"aligncenter size-large\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"exam-about\">CT Perfusion (CTP) or MR Perfusion (MRP) are medical exams that provide insights into blood flow in the brain. MR Perfusion is a specialized type of MRI that focuses on measuring blood flow in the brain.
