After 5 years at MGH, he was recruited by the Mayo Clinic.\u00a0 Within the next two years at the Mayo Clinic, he reached the rank of Professor and became the Chair of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.\u00a0 He is the founding director of the Laboratory for Patient-Inspired Engineering, which is currently funded by multiple National Institutes of Health R01 grants and was recently named as a Clinician Investigator by the Mayo Clinic, which is a prestigious physician scientist title that provides substantial research funding annually.\u00a0 He has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications including Science and Nature journals, as well as Advanced Materials and was inducted to the American Society for Clinical Investigation in 2023.\u00a0 He was the Founder, Board Member and Chief Medical Officer of Obsidio, Inc., which received FDA approval in July, 2022 and was acquired by Boston Scientific in August, 2022. Dr. Oklu is also the Founder, Board Member and Chief Medical Officer of InTumo Therapeutics Inc., which recently completed human trials for the percutaneous treatment of solid tumors. Dr. Oklu is the associate editor of ACSNano and is on the editorial board of Advanced Materials; he reviews regularly for the NIH, including BTSS and IGIS study sections, and the DOD.
