As a supplement to the \u2018Practical Imaging Informatics: Foundations and Applications for Medical Imaging\u2019 <\/em>textbook, Jay Crawford was the guest expert on the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) Podcast Series, Season 5, Episode 12 on Data Storage. The discussion covers storage standards and technologies such as RAID, as well as the change in storage utilization with advent of evolving storage media architectures going from magneto-optical, spinning disk, solid state, and tape archives.\u00a0 These core concepts are critical for understanding not only issues of business continuity and disaster recovery, but also system performance, latency, and resource provisioning in medical imaging.<\/p>\n

Jay Crawford is the Chief Imaging Informatics Officer at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He is a Biomedical Engineer, with subsequent Master’s and Doctorate Degrees in Health Administration with an emphasis on Information Technology and Leadership.
