{"id":5235,"date":"2024-02-20T10:46:36","date_gmt":"2024-02-20T15:46:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radiology\/?post_type=ud_entry&#038;p=5235"},"modified":"2025-10-30T08:41:35","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T12:41:35","slug":"mark-rynties","status":"publish","type":"ud_entry","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radiology\/people\/mark-rynties\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Rynties, MD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Research Statement<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">As co-investigator for the Tomosynthesis Mammography Screening Trial, I work to cultivate a commitment to caring for and recruiting a diverse group of patients that are specifically designed better to understand racial\/ethnic disparities in breast diseases.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Teaching Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The trailing three years have been filled with opportunities and challenges. I was hired pre-pandemic to provide high-volume clinical care, and my work centered on clinical care and assuring rapport with individual patients. As our division is particularly education- and teaching-centric, I have happily been recruited to teach our residents and fellows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In my daily interface with learners, I educate and teach UNC residents and fellows radiological management and diagnostic interpretation with current focus on breast and chest imaging. I educate, guide, oversee and proctor Breast interventional procedures performed under my direction by UNC residents and fellows. Further, it is extremely important that each fourth year (Diagnostic Radiology) and fifth year (Interventional Radiology) resident fulfill graduation MQSA requirements, specifically high-volume mammography interpretation numbers. I ensure these requirements are met with the important roles I play in faculty precepting of resident report interpretation. I read a very high-volume of screening exams both independently and as faculty for those drafted by residents and fellows<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In my daily interface with patients, I seek to educate and teach.\u00a0My interaction with patients is stellar as I answer their questions and address their concerns or inform them about their imaging results and next course of treatment.
