Meet the residents: Dr. Michael Young
MD, University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine
What brought you to radiation oncology?
I was first introduced to radiation oncology by my third-year pediatric hematology/oncology attendings. I immediately loved the focus on research in the field. The physics was fascinating and you get to interact with the patients at a very tender point in their life.
What do you like about UNC RadOnc?
UNC radiation oncology has a supportive, research-rich environment. I liked how engaging the faculty are how readily they are to involve you in projects, teaching, and mentoring. The residents have a good work-lifestyle balance and are very supportive.
What has surprised you about your UNC RadOnc residency?
The volume and breadth of what we get to see.
