{"id":2558,"date":"2010-04-06T18:15:00","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T22:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radonc\/patient\/resources\/"},"modified":"2018-08-06T15:41:26","modified_gmt":"2018-08-06T19:41:26","slug":"resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/radonc\/patient\/resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Patient Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"lead\">Our support programs were designed with specific patient needs in mind, and include free parking, dedicated financial counselors and social workers, interpreters, pastoral care and nutritional guidance.<\/p>\n<h2>Resources within Radiation Oncology<\/h2>\n<p>For patients undergoing radiation therapy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Free 1-hour clinic parking:<\/b> For our patients treated daily on an outpatient basis, we supply one-hour permits for parking directly in front of the NC Cancer Hospital with easy, street-level access to the Radiation Oncology clinic.<\/li>\n<li><b>Dedicated financial counselors:<\/b> Counselors are available to meet privately with our patients concerning insurance or billing issues.<\/li>\n<li><b>Dedicated oncology social workers:<\/b> Social workers assist our patients with making all the logistical arrangements for their care.<\/li>\n<li><b>Nutritional care:<\/b> Dietitians are available to assist our patients with their dietary needs during treatment.<\/li>\n<li><b>Certified tobacco cessation specialists:<\/b> For our patients who need assistance with stopping smoking.<\/li>\n<li><b>Therapists, counselors and psychologists:<\/b> To address the patient\u2019s and families\u2019 psychological health and well-being.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>For additional information about these patient resources, please ask your radiation oncology nurse.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>Cancer Hospital Resources<\/h2>\n<p>These resources are for any patients in the Cancer Hospital.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Pastoral care and a chapel:<\/b> Available for patient spiritual support.<\/li>\n<li><b>Interpreters:<\/b> Interpreters are available to our patients to help overcome language barriers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cancer survivorship services:<\/strong> To help patients move beyond their cancer diagnosis and treatment toward wellness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many other cancer support programs are available to our patients through the <a href=\"https:\/\/unclineberger.org\/patientcare\/support\/ccsp\/programs_services\/pfrc\" target=\"_self\">Patient and Family Resource Center<\/a>.
