Assistant professor and radiation oncologist Dr. Shekinah Elmore is a member of the cancer leadership team for UNC Project Malawi<\/a>, which recently was awarded a <\/span>five-year training grant from the National Cancer Institute to train the next generation of cancer physicians and scientists in the Southeast African nation of Malawi.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The nearly $1.5M award to The Malawi Cancer Outcomes Research Program (M-CORP<\/a>) includes funding for advanced degree and post-doctoral training of junior Malawian cancer researchers. There will also be a reciprocal exchange program allowing Malawian scholars to come to the US for a year to conduct research, and for US scholars to travel to Malawi to do the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n
