Image-Guided X-Ray Irradiator
The Small Animal Radiation Therapy (SmART+) system (Precision X-ray, Inc.) is an image-guided irradiator dedicated for preclinical research involving radiation. The system was acquired in 2022 through the Cs-Irradiator Replacement Project (CIRP) sponsored by the Department of Energy. It can provide CT image-guided radiation to a target tissue/region, and deliver precise radiation with high repeatability. The CT imaging unit can provide images at a nominal resolution of 100 microns. The system is equipped with (5) fixed collimators as well as an adjustable collimator unit.
The primary features include:
- Irradiation Energy: 10-225 kVp, 4500 W
- Dose rate: 1-6 Gy/min
- Collimation: conformal collimators available in sizes from 1 mm to 100 mm
- Isocenter distance: 30 cm typical
- Image-guided targeting precision: up to 0.1 mm
