X-Ray Irradiator
The X-Rad320 (Precision X-ray, Inc) is a self-contained and shielded unit that can be used for irradiating specimens or small animals with orthovoltage x-rays. The system is equipped with a manually adjustable sample shelf (variable positions), switchable filters to control the hardness of the x-ray beam, and an adjustable collimator to control the radiation field size.
The primary features include:
- Irradiation energy: 5-320 kVp, 4200 W
- Dose rate: dependent on filter used and shelf position; >15 Gy/min with no filter
- Switchable filters: F1 [2 mm Al], F2 [1.5 mm Al + 0.25 mm Cu + 0.75 mm Sn]
- Collimation: variable, from 1×1 cm up to 20×20 cm at 50 cm fixed shelf distance
