Professional Development & Education

The role of our Professional Development and Education committee is to plan, design, and organize professional and educational related events in order to cultivate SBBS member development. We host and collaborate with companies and groups in the UNC research triangle.  Committee members.

Public Relations

The Public Relations committee serves to report scientific findings to the community through social media and engages with those who are at the forefront of cutting edge innovation.  Typically, African American scientific innovators are featured on our social media and website accounts where we include quotes, interviews, and first hand resources.  Committee members.

Outreach and Social Action

Outreach and Social Action committee members identify social movements that align with the mission of SBBS so that our general body members can serve as change agents in their communities.  We stand with local and national causes that both uplift African Americans in the scientific and non-scientific communities.  Committee members.

Social

This committee is responsible for keeping SBBS members, committee chairs, and E-board participants engaged with each other, in order to build a UNC graduate student network of Black scientists. Look for social events that involve food, fun, and positivity.  Committee members.
