The SHIRE is designed to meet the needs of a wide variety of analysis projects, but not <\/span><\/span>every<\/span><\/span> project.<\/span> For compliance reasons, its use is <\/span>required<\/span> for certain types of projects. Other projects may not be <\/span>required<\/span> to use <\/span>the SHIRE<\/span> but may wish t<\/span>o opt in <\/span>anyhow <\/span>to take advantage of its scalable <\/span>compute<\/span> capabilities. Read <\/span>on<\/span> be<\/span>low to <\/span>determine<\/span> if the SHIRE is right for your project, or whether one of our available alternative<\/span>s<\/span> is a better fit.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Using the SHIRE is required<\/strong> if:<\/p>\n

<\/i>You are using EHR data from UNC Health as part of your project AND<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/i><\/span><\/span>Your dataset <\/span>has patient identifiers <\/span>or <\/span>is <\/span>HIPAA limited <\/span>AND<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/i><\/span><\/span>Your <\/span>project involves data analysis (as opposed to simply viewing data, such as a patient list for chart review or trial recruitment)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
