Dr. Peter Gilligan is a professor of Microbiology-Immunology and Pathology-Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and the Director of the Clinical Microbiology-Immunology Laboratories at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. He is a member of the Center for Infectious Diseases at UNC, where he collaborates with investigators on various research projects at the UNC Center in Lilongwe, Malawi. His primary research interest is the detection and molecular epidemiology of emerging infectious diseases.
