How Pandemics Show Us Who We Are: Race and Risk in the United States UNC Health and Human Rights Lecture with Mary T. Bassett

UNC Health and Human Rights Lecture on Oct 7, which the Center for Bioethics is once again co-sponsoring with the Department of Public Policy and the Gillings School.
Dr. Mary Bassett will address how the COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected Black Americans and other communities of color, as well as poor people of all backgrounds, laying bare longstanding structural inequities in this country and displaying their cost in human lives. Dr. Bassett’s lecture will challenge the notion that these stark inequities are inevitable, and instead show how these reflect who we are and how we have organized our society.
