After more than a decade of working alongside communities, the Center for Health Equity Research is beginning a new chapter as the Center for Thriving Communities. With an expanded mission, scope, and suite of services, the team is excited to amplify community-engaged research at UNC-Chapel Hill and in the communities we serve.
The Center for Thriving Communities, co-directed by Giselle Corbie and Gaurav Dave, brings together community wisdom and research expertise to discover what helps people thrive where they live. Research staff and faculty work side-by-side with community members to understand what’s working and what’s getting in the way of health and wellbeing. Together, these multidisciplinary teams develop practical solutions that create opportunities for all communities to flourish. This partnership approach helps make real progress toward better health for everyone. The center also provides expertise and research support services through its core facility, Abacus Evaluation.
