\"UNCDear Colleagues,<\/p>\n

We are excited to share details of SOM: Accelerate Forward Together<\/a>, our new UNC School of Medicine Strategic Plan. Accelerate Forward Together is built on the foundation of Forward Together, our strategic planning effort that launched in 2019 and closes at the end of this year. Over the last five years, we have elevated our research funding every year, we have developed new clinical and educational partnerships across the state of North Carolina, and opened Roper Hall, a new state of the art medical education building. In addition, we have advanced many professional development resources for faculty and staff.<\/p>\n

The world and environment\u00a0around us have changed dramatically, but we have changed as well. So, it is exciting to contemplate where we can go over the next several years. We will go there together because this plan \u2013 like all of our work \u2013 is highly collaborative.<\/p>\n

More than 350 teammates and learners shared input on the plan during town halls and listening sessions, as well as many others through surveys and department visits. And we are grateful to the many groups and teams involved for synthesizing the input of our community into this new plan, which we hope will help us reach our goal of becoming the nation\u2019s leading public school of medicine.<\/p>\n

Another important point is that our Accelerate Forward Together plan is aligned with UNC Health\u2019s Forward Together 2030 plan<\/a> so that we can collectively meet our mission to promote the health and wellbeing of the people of North Carolina.<\/p>\n

We hope you will spend time familiarizing yourself with the plan and our goals and initiatives across the areas of research, education, clinical care, and people and culture. We look forward to keeping you updated and working alongside you as we fulfill the promise of this ambitious plan.
