The first annual Fireman’s Challenge for the Gamma Phi chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was an unprecedented success. The week long philanthropy event created a strong competition between eight sororities on the campus of Wake Forest University, ending in Kappa Kappa Gamma taking home the first place trophy. Thanks in part to the sororities, Pike brothers, alumni, and parents, the event raised nearly $12,000 for the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center, the most in Gamma Phi chapter history. We believe that these contributions will go a long way towards the already incredible care given at the facility.<\/p>\n

The week began on Monday with a Dunk Tank on the Quad, allowing passerby’s to take a few shots at sinking some of our brothers. Following that event was a wildly successful Bake Sale on Tuesday afternoon. Every sorority made different baked goods with some sororities entering as many as ten different treats into the competition. Wednesday marked the first every Pike Spike Volleyball Classic which featured fierce competition and some well played matches. On Thursday evening, the sororities participated in Family Feud hosted by two of our brothers. Finally, the week concluded Friday afternoon with an incredible Field Day put on by the Winston Salem Fire Department. The girls and their PIKE Captains participated in a fire hose roll out, roll up, got dressed in the gear, a bucket brigade, and a target hit with the fire hose before concluding the chilly afternoon with tug-of-war.<\/p>\n

We would like to thank the Winston Salem Fire Department for their help in making this event a reality as well as all of those who participated. It is our sincere belief that this can become a long standing partnership for an event we hope just gets better in its second installment. Thank you to all of Wake Forest’s sororities, their parents, and everyone else who gave money to this worthy cause. We enjoyed working with the people at the Burn Center and think that this partnership is one that will last for years to come.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
