Adults with congenital heart disease require a lifelong relationship with a cardiologist. We are part of the UNC Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program and provide heart surgery, if needed, to adults who have had operations as children and need further intervention, and to adults who have a new diagnosis of congenital heart disease.

Common procedures include replacement of the pulmonary valve, closure of atrial septal defects and repair of anomalous pulmonary veins, aortic valve surgery, pacemaker placement, repair of coarctation of the aorta, and mitral valve repair/replacement. Patients are seen before and after surgery by a surgeon and adult congenital cardiologist in our multi-disciplinary clinic at Eastowne.
