Egan, M.D<\/a>., of the UNC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Dr. Egan has studied the use of lungs for transplant from people who have died outside the hospital of sudden cardiac arrest. In a recent project, Dr. Egan worked with Wake County, NC, Emergency Medical Services to identify and help expedite the transport of cardiac arrest victims whose lungs could be evaluated by Dr. Egan&#8217;s research team.
