Clinical and Research Interests
My clinical interests are in Surgical Oncology and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery. My research interests are in Pancreatic Cancer and Hepatocellular Carcinoma. I also am very interested in medical education.
What were you looking for in a residency program?
I wanted to be at a program with excellent clinical and technical training in an environment that also promotes strong institutional support for academic pursuits. I found that there were few programs that are able to truly provide both, and that UNC was one of them. What makes UNC stand out above the others is the community within the surgery department and the support that the residents and faculty have for each other. It is a team-based approach to patient care.
What inspired you to be a Surgeon?
I found fulfillment in taking care of critically ill patients and working in a procedural environment.
