{"id":2292,"date":"2008-07-29T19:10:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-29T23:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/surgery\/gisurgery\/education\/how-to-apply\/"},"modified":"2022-08-18T12:54:24","modified_gmt":"2022-08-18T16:54:24","slug":"how-to-apply","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/surgery\/gisurgery\/education\/how-to-apply\/","title":{"rendered":"How to apply"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2>Online Application Process<\/h2>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply online through <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fellowshipcouncil.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">The<\/a><b><a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fellowshipcouncil.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"> Fellowship Council<\/a><\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Eligibility:\n<ul>\n<li>Fellow must be graduates of accredited surgical residency training programs<\/li>\n<li>Completed one year of research, minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy training.<\/li>\n<li>Note: This Fellowship Program consist of 1-year and at the Salary Clinical Instructor level.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Interviews<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Interviews will be conducted during the PGY-4 year as proscribed by The Fellowship Council.<\/li>\n<li>The selected candidate would start employment August 1st following the completion of residency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Prerequisites for Employment (requires advanced planning)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Application for a Full License &#8211; <a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"\" href=\"resolveuid\/7d1bddc546354b6eb705a0e3d3018212\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Checklist<\/a>.\n<ul>\n<li>Attain a full medical license from the <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ncmedboard.org\/licensing\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">NC Medical Board<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>UNC Hospital privileges are not granted if NC Medical license is incomplete or pending.<\/li>\n<li>Attain a <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dor.state.nc.us\/downloads\/privilege.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">NC Privilege license<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Application for <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov\/drugreg\/index.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">DEA<\/a>; we are a state-operated Hospital institution and exempted from payment.
