From the beginning, UNC\u2019s Transplant Team has been committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care and access to the newest, most effective therapies. Located in UNOS Region 11, our transplant patients have come from around the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Comprehensive care is provided to all transplant patients and recipients using a multi-disciplinary team approach. The UNC Liver Transplant Team includes transplant surgeons, hepatologists, nurse practitioners, nurse coordinators, social worker, psychologists, and financial counselors.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Transplant Team include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/surgery\/transplant\/directory\/chirag-desai-md\/\">Chirag Desai, MD, Surgical Director, Liver Transplant Program<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/findadoc.unchealthcare.org\/details\/45018\/neil-shah-gastroenterology_and_hepatology-transplant-asheville-chapel_hill-greenville-hillsborough-raleigh\">Neil Shah, MD Hepatologist<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/gi\/faculty-physicians\/a-sidney-barritt-iv-md-mscr-1\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A. Sidney Barritt, MD, MSCR, Hepatologist <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All UNC transplant patients have access to extensive support services including nutritional, pharmaceutical, and financial services. Local accommodations for transplant patients and their families have been a focus for our program.
