Patients with Type I diabetes may also be candidates for pancreas transplantation. Contraindications for kidney and kidney-pancreas transplants include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">HIV serology positive<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Active tuberculosis<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Hepatitis B surface antigen positive<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Active drug\/ETOH abuse<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">History of recurrent malignancy (Patients free of cancer for two years will be considered.)<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Advanced coronary artery disease<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Advanced chronic obstructive pulmonary disease<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Current positive T-Cell crossmatch<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Severe neurologic deficits or untreatable psychiatric illness<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Age less than 1 year old<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Age greater than 65 years old<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Lack of family or social support<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Neurogenic bladder<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"left\">Severe malnutrition\/cachexia<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"left\">\n<p>You need not be on dialysis yet to qualify for kidney transplant evaluation\/listing.
