The UNC vascular training program offers a rich history of educational and procedural excellence, training graduates that have gone into both academic and private practice. I am honored to be the program director of a program with such a robust legacy.<\/p>\n
Our program has long been rooted in the training of vascular fellows, but we are now happy to have an integrated vascular residency. We feel that both programs offer pathways to obtain solid training.<\/p>\n
UNC offers advanced vascular care to the state of North Carolina and our surrounding states; we have two hybrid endovascular suites and a dedicated angio-suite at the main campus with a similar compliment at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.<\/p>\n
In an effort to increase the already robust operative experience and offer different environments for education; we have partnered with our affiliated Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Rex Hospital is a private hospital with a thriving vascular practice in both the open and endovascular arenas. We feel this addition has allowed us to provide both an academic and private practice learning environment for our trainees.<\/p>\n
At UNC, we pride ourselves in the training paradigm that we have created; we emphasis graduated autonomy and breadth of cases. Trainees will experience the gauntlet of vascular surgery cases from AV access and vein work all the way up to complex endovascular aortic repair, open thoracic, and thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair.<\/p>\n
Chapel Hill is a fantastic place to live. Chapel Hill provides endless outdoor activities, has an excellent food scene, live music always available, and has a robust college sports environment. And if all that wasn\u2019t enough, the neighboring cities of Raleigh and Durham provide anything Chapel Hill may be missing! North Carolina is truly a wonderful place to live.<\/p>\n
With all of these characteristics combined, you can see why I think our training program here at UNC is remarkable!<\/p>\n
