Jeffrey Johnson, MD, receives Grant from the North Carolina Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute<\/a>.<\/h4>\n

\"JeffreyJeffrey Johnson, MD<\/strong>, is a Surgical Oncology Fellow in the Department of Surgery.\u00a0 He received a TraCS $2K pilot grant for his proposal titled \u201cDeep Learning-Aided Digital Pathology to Improve Diagnosis and Identify High-Risk Features in Melanoma Sentinel Lymph Nodes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Co-PI on the project is Sherif Farag, Ph.D., a Bioinformatics scientist wth UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Other research partners include David Ollila, MD, Professor and Surgical Oncologist int he Department of Surgery; Joel Parker, Ph.D., Adjunct Associate Professor, Genetics; Jayson Miedema, MD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology; Paul Googe, MD, Professor in the Department of Dermatology; and Nancy Thomas, MD, Ph.D. Irene & Robert Alan Briggaman Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology.<\/p>\n

NC TraCS is the integrated hub of the NIH Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) Program at UNC that combines the research strengths, resources, and opportunities of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus, partner institutions RTI International in the Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (N.C. A&T) in Greensboro, and North Carolina State University in Raleigh.<\/span><\/p>\n

The CTSA is a national consortium made up of over 60 medical institutions across the US that work to reduce the time it takes for laboratory discoveries to become treatments for patients, to engage communities in clinical research efforts, and to train a new generation of clinical researchers.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
