SUMMARY:Joint Presentation: UNC CCCR Speakers Series + Program For Precision Medicine in Health Care: “Machine Learning Tools for Clinical Researchers” – A Pragmatic Series
DESCRIPTION:Join the UNC Core Center for Clinical Research (CCCR) and Program for “Precision Medicine in Health Care (PPMH) for Machine Learning Tools for Clinical Researchers: A Pragmatic Approach Series\,” a free virtual seminar series on May 11\, 18\, and 25\, 2022. \nThis series will provide a foundation of knowledge regarding the use of machine learning tools in clinical questions\, define the strengths and limitations of these methods\, explore real-world examples of applied machine learning methodology in clinical research\, and elucidate how machine learning can be used to advance precision medicine research. \nIf you are a clinical researcher who could benefit from incorporating machine learning tools in your research\, be sure to attend the May 25th session. Present a “pitch” (5-10 minute overview) of your research project\, receive guidance from machine learning experts\, and compete for funding from PPMH for analytical support from the NC TraCS Institute. Email precisionmedicine@med.unc.edu for pitch guidelines. \n\nIntegrating Machine Learning into Your Clinical Research; May 25\, 1:00-3:00pm\n\nClick here to register and for more information. \nContact precisionmedicine@med.unc.edu with any questions.

SUMMARY:UNC CCCR Speaker Series: Dr. Linda Li; "Rethinking Physical Activity Promotion in a 24-hour Day of People with Arthritis"
DESCRIPTION:“Rethinking Physical Activity Promotion in a 24-hour Day of People with Arthritis” \nDescription of Presentation: Maintaining an active lifestyle is a core component of self-care in people with arthritis\, but for some\, introducing physical activity in their daily lives is not a simple process. We all have 24 hours in our day and what we each do with that time can differ. This presentation will explore the idea of shifting the approach of physical activity counselling from focusing on concrete physical activity targets (e.g.\, achieving 150 mins/week of moderate/vigorous physical activity) to a balance of activity\, rest\, and sleep in a 24-day. \nLinda Li\, PhD \nProfessor & Harold Robinson/Arthritis Society Chair \nCanada Research Chair in Patient-Oriented Knowledge Transition \nUniversity of British Columbia \nAttend Via Zoom – registration required: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEtce6pqjojGtc6FRbg7CabYbywcijCTELu \n

SUMMARY:Collaborative CCCR Speaker Series: Dr. Michael Kosorok; "Recent Developments & Future Possibilities in Precision Health"
DESCRIPTION:“Recent Developments and Future Possibilities in Precision Health” \nPrecision health is the science of data-driven decision support for improving health at the individual and population levels. This includes precision medicine and precision public health and circumscribes all health-related challenges which can benefit from a precision operations approach. This framework strives to develop study design\, data collection and analysis tools to dis-cover empirically valid solutions to optimize outcomes in both the short and long term. This includes incorporating and addressing heterogeneity across persons\, time\, location\, institutions\, communities\, key stakeholders\, and other contexts. In this lecture\, we review some recent developments in the area\, imagine what the future of precision health can look like\, and outline a possible path to achieving it. Several applications in a number of disease areas will be examined \nDr. Michael Kosorok\, Distinguished Professor and Chair \nDepartment of Biostatistics \nUniversity of N.C. at Chapel Hill \nAttend Via Zoom: \nURL: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMuf-iqpzMtGdeTynxiXKSRn-Y3HC-gcgB2
