DESCRIPTION:UNC CCCR Speaker Series\nSpeaker:\nElena Losina\, PhD\nRobert W. Lovett Professor of Orthopedic Surgery\nHarvard Medical School\nDirector\, VERITY Methodology Core\nBrigham and Women’s Hospital\nTalk Title: Value of Knee OA Treatments \nBrief Description: Knee osteoarthritis is a debilitating painful condition affecting quality of life. Currently\, there is no disease-modifying treatments to halt the progression of knee OA. Treatments are focused symptom alleviation. Provision of value-based care is centered on efficacy and economic efficiency. The cost-effectiveness measures both efficacy and effectiveness in a single outcome measure. In this talk I will highlight the assessments of value for non-pharmacologic\, pharmacologic\, and surgical treatments for knee OA. \nRegister to Attend

SUMMARY:CCCR Speakers Series: Dr. Trevor Lentz; "Mental Health Phenotyping in Osteoarthritis: From Concept to Implementation"
DESCRIPTION:“Mental Health Phenotyping in Osteoarthritis: From Concept to Implementation”\nMental health needs can have a significant impact on treatment outcomes for osteoarthritis. Clinical phenotyping has strong potential to inform the development of tailored treatment pathways that address common mental health needs. In this presentation\, Dr. Lentz will describe a line of work focused on using routinely-administered screening tools to identify mental health phenotypes among people with osteoarthritis. He will then discuss challenges and opportunities associated with implementing phenotype-specific treatment pathways in a comprehensive osteoarthritis management program at Duke University. \nTrever Lentz\, PhD\nAssistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery\nDuke University School of Medicine\nRegister to Attend

SUMMARY:UNC CCCR Speakers Series: Dr. Virginia Kraus; "Treatment stratification of patients based on biomarker profile"
DESCRIPTION:“Treatment Stratification of Patients Based on Biomarker Profile” \nBrief Description: Stratified medicine involves the use of biomarkers to differentiate patient populations into subsets (i.e. endotypes) that provide more detailed information about the specific causes of conditions\, and predict how patients will respond to a given drug or combination of drugs. The ability to successfully identify different osteoarthritis (OA) endotypes will increase chances of regulatory approval of drugs for OA and ultimately\, transform the current empirical medical practice to efficient data-driven individualized therapeutic strategies with lower risk of medical error. This talk will summarize currently proposed OA endotypes and current prospects and implications. \nVirginia Kraus\, MD\, PhD\nProfessor of Medicine\, Duke University School of Medicine\nMary Bernheim Distinguished Professor of Medicine\nProfessor of Pathology \nRegister to attend via Zoom: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJIocOmupzIuGNQI5NN5-ofZ8xdPniPOk_8h \n
