Lab equipment – expressions of thanks from 4th floor

On behalf of all research laboratories on the fourth floor of the Thurston Arthritis Research Center we are sincerely grateful for the generous donation that was used in purchasing new equipment for our research groups.

We study the causes, consequences and treatments of arthritis and autoimmune diseases as well as diseases that are complications of these diseases, such as heart disease and cancer. The goal of our research is to find new therapeutic targets to prevent against or efficiently treat these diseases and ultimately to reduce their impacts on patients, their families and society.

This generous donation helped us modernize our outdated equipment including:

  • Real Time RT-PCR machine
  • Theromocyclers
  • Multi-Functional Plate Reader
  • Microscope Camera
  • Centrifuges
  • Research-Grade Water Filtering System
  • Computers, and many pieces of critical small equipment.

With these state-of-the-art technologies, we believe our research will advance faster with the highest quality. Additionally, they will make our work more competitive for applying extramural funds from the National Institution of Health (NIH), Arthritis Foundation (AF), American College of Rheumatology (ACR), American Heart Association (AHA), and American Cancer Society (ACS).
