UNC School of Medicine was recognized for its robust diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) framework, centered on five pillars: Infrastructure, Curriculum and Scholarship, Access and Success, Workplace Climate and Inter/Intragroup relations, and Community Engagement.

It was praised for multiple initiatives that expand opportunities to generate and train the next generation of physicians and scientists and its programs to help improve medical care for all communities across the state of North Carolina, including the traditionally underserved.
