She then completed her internal medicine residency at the University for Virginia and stayed on faculty as an academic hospitalist where she enjoyed teaching and taking care of a complex patient population. During medical school, Dr. Sun pursued a Masters in Public Health with a focus in epidemiology. She then came to the University of North Carolina where she completed her Internal Medicine training. Dr. Sun chose a career in Rheumatology for multiple reasons, including the diagnostic complexities and challenges inherent to the diseases and the chance to build meaningful and lasting relationships with patients and their families. Dr. Sun has a particular interest in addressing healthcare disparities and gaps in care for patients with Rheumatologic diseases. He then completed an internal medicine residency training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Schworer was drawn to an Allergy and Immunology fellowship to better understand the fascinating world of the immune system, and for the opportunity to use this knowledge to find more effective treatments for allergic disease.
