For the UNC Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health she is the leader of Project III and co-leader of the Training Core.<\/p>\n<p>In <a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/research-projects\/mouse-models-of-human-smoking-related-diseases-what-is-the-best-mimic-of-human-disease\/\" target=\"_self\">Project III<\/a>, Dr. Doerschuk aims to develop a better model of human smoking-related lung disease by using smoke-exposed lungs with airway epithelia overexpressing Scnn1b, the gene that codes for the beta subunit of the epithelial Na<sup>+ <\/sup>channel (\u03b2ENaC).
