{"id":2310,"date":"2013-10-25T18:40:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-25T22:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/about-us\/faculty\/robert-tarran\/"},"modified":"2018-06-25T09:38:33","modified_gmt":"2018-06-25T13:38:33","slug":"robert-tarran","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/about-us\/faculty\/robert-tarran\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Tarran, Ph.D."},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<h2>Director of the Center, Project I Leader<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"image-right alignright\" title=\"Robert Tarran, Ph.D.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/712\/2018\/05\/robert-tarran-ph-d-2.jpeg\" alt=\" \" width=\"237\" height=\"306\" \/> &amp; Leader of the Administrative and Bioanalysis Core<\/h2>\n<p>Robert Tarran, Ph.D., is an <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cellbiophysio\/people\/primary-faculty\/robert-tarran-phd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associate Professor of Cell Biology and Physiology<\/a>, an <a class=\"external-link\" title=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/cfpulmcenter\/about-us\/faculty\/tarran\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">investigator for the UNC CF\/Pulmonary Research &amp; Treatment Center<\/a> and director of the UNC Center for Tobacco Regulatory Science and Lung Health. In addition to serving as the center&#8217;s director, Dr. Tarran is the leader of both Project I and the Administrative and Bioanalysis Core.<\/p>\n<p>In <a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/research-projects\/the-effect-of-netps-on-lung-hydration-and-inflammation\/\" target=\"_self\">Project I<\/a>, Dr. Tarran&#8217;s research is focused on understanding the effect of new and emerging tobacco products (NETPs) on lung hydration. As part of the <a class=\"internal-link\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/tcors-lung\/core-facilities\/administrative-and-bioanalysis-core\/\" target=\"_self\">Administrative and Bioanalysis Core<\/a>, Dr. Tarran oversees a team of research coordinators, biostatisticians and bioinformaticians to ensure the overall research aims of the center are met and the generated results are scientifically valid.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Tarran has several open post-doctoral positions.
