The Healthy Vets Community Project, housed within UNC’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, aims to enhance community capacity to support Veterans and their families by reducing barriers to care and improving Veteran health across the Veterans Integrated Service Network-6 (VISN-6) region, the VA’s Mid-Atlantic health care network serving all of North Carolina and most of Virginia.
Abacus provides evaluation expertise, working collaboratively with the Healthy Vets team to design and implement a learning‑focused evaluation approach. Building on a successful partnership during the first project phase, Building Veteran Healthy Communities, Abacus and the team now continue their work together in Phase 2 through the Healthy Vets Community Project. Together, the partners use evidence to inform decision‑making and amplify the project’s impact over time.
