The\u00a0<strong>purpose<\/strong>\u00a0of Time to Conceive is to learn a way to measure fertility in women ages\u00a0<strong>30 to 44<\/strong>\u00a0who are\u00a0<strong>trying to get pregnant<\/strong>. Specifically, we will try to determine if certain hormones (FSH, estradiol, antimullerian hormone, inhibin) in blood and urine will predict fertility and infertility. From April 2008 through August 31, 2015, we hope to\u00a0<b><\/b><strong>enroll 850 women<\/strong>\u00a0who are trying to get pregnant, collect a small blood and urine sample from each, and observe how long it takes for them to get pregnant.\u00a0Time to Conceive is important because, although 1 out of 7 women suffer from infertility, we currently have no markers to predict who will be infertile. With your help, we can discover more about infertility.<strong>\u00a0As of August 31, 2015 we have ended enrollment for Time to Conceive.<\/strong><br \/>\n<br class=\"\" \/><a class=\"btn btn-success href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/timetoconceive\/what-is-time-to-conceive-1\/who-can-join\/\">can join<\/a> if they:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>are between the ages of <strong>30 and 44 years<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>are hoping to get pregnant and are <strong>about to start trying,<\/strong> or<\/li>\n<li>have been trying for <strong>less than 3 months.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Women <strong>can <em>not<\/em> join<\/strong> if they:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have a <em>history of infertility or fertility treatments,<\/em><\/li>\n<li>have a <em>partner with a history of infertility or fertility treatments,<\/em><\/li>\n<li>have used <em>hormone shots<\/em> in the past year,<\/li>\n<li><em>cannot<\/em> read or speak <em>English,<\/em><\/li>\n<li>have <em>Polycystic Ovarian Disease<\/em> (PCOS), <em>endometriosis<\/em>, or <em>Pelvic Inflammatory Disease<\/em> (PID)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-lg-4 col-md-4 col-xs-12 col-sm-4 oscitas-bootstrap-container\">\n<div class=\"alert alert-grey\">\n<h2 class=\"\">What Will I Have to Do?<\/h2>\n<p>Study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/timetoconceive\/what-is-time-to-conceive-1\/study-activities-1\/\">participants<\/a> will be asked to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>complete a <strong>15-minute telephone screening interview,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>complete a one-time <strong>baseline questionnaire<\/strong> online,<\/li>\n<li>complete short, <strong>daily diaries<\/strong> online,<\/li>\n<li>come in for a brief, 20-minute<strong> study visit<\/strong> at one of our<a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/timetoconceive\/what-is-time-to-conceive-1\/directions\/\"> 3 study visit sites<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li>complete a free early pregnancy <strong>ultrasound,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>complete a short pregnancy <strong>outcome report.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><br class=\"\" \/>We will <strong>NOT give you any medicines<\/strong> to take or ask you to make any significant changes to your daily lifestyle or existing healthcare routine.
