Mimi works under the mentorship of Dr. Mirek Styblo and is investigating the underlying mechanisms of arsenic-associated diabetes and how nutritional interventions may modify arsenic toxicity. Mimi is a fourth year Toxicology graduate student and has already published two first-author and one co-authored publication on this topic. Kim Stratford is working under the mentorship of Dr. Mehdi Hazari at the U.S. EPA and is examining the role of early-life nutritional deficiency in cardiovascular dysfunction induced by air pollution exposure. Specifically, Kim is interested in how Vitamin D deficiency affects cardiovascular effects induced by urban air pollutants.
