Thank you to everyone who participated and made the first Southeast Symposium for MD-PhD Women in Science a great success! The workshop leaders were fantastic and the Keynote Address from Dr. Pisano was inspirational. It was wonderful to meet everyone, and we hope to make this event a yearly tradition. A special thank you also to the Burroughs Wellcome Fund for making this symposium possible!

UNC AMPWIS work recognized by University!!
Audrey and Kate with UNC Chancellor Carol Folt!
We are honored to have received University wide recognition of our work in the first year of our group through the University Award for the Advancement of Women! We look forward to collaborating with fellow award recipients Dr. Donna Bickford and Dr. Karen Booth to continue our mission of educating our peers on the challenges faced by women in academic science and medicine, providing career development skill workshops, and outreach to undergraduates to increase the number of women in MD-PhD programs.
Thank you for volunteering at Brier Creek Elementary!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to bring the joy of science to the 4th graders at Brier Creek Elementary!! We enjoyed meeting volunteers from all over the triangle as we helped the students plan, carry out, and analyze their science fair experiments.
This outreach project was a collaboration between the UNC MD-PhD Program, UNC WISE, UNC WInS, the UNC Outreach Listserv, the Duke MD-PhD Program, GWIS, and WIB. Thanks to all of you, this outreach collaboration was a great success!
We would also like to thank the amazing teachers at Brier Creek Elementary for making this opportunity possible!
Outreach at Brier Creek Elementary – More help needed!
Thank you so much to everyone that has volunteered their time at Brier Creek to help the 4th graders carry out their science fair projects! We have had a ton of fun with this experience during January, but unfortunately both of the dates for this week were cancelled due to snow. In order to best help the students of Brier Creek, we have added February 11th and 13th to our volunteer schedule.
We still need more volunteers for all dates, especially these two make up dates. Even helping for just one date would be amazing! The sign up sheet for dates can be found HERE.
More details about the project can be found on our Events pages.
Information on how to get to the school and day of directions can be found on our Brier Creek Information Flier.
Thank you all for taking the time to show the kids of Brier Creek Elementary that science is fun!!
