About
Dr. Buse’s research interests include the prevention and treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and their complications. He currently works with research teams in multicenter studies of diabetes and obesity treatment, in translating basic science innovation to clinical application, and in exploring the safety and efficacy of treatments using real-world evidence.
Dr. Buse has over 30 years’ experience in clinical diabetes care, and the conduct and leadership of multicenter trials in diabetes, obesity, and their complications. This experience has gained him a broad operational proficiency in the methods of clinical and translational research and in scientific program management. He has also chaired or served on the steering committee or data safety and monitoring board of more than 30 major studies over the last 30 years, and has worked with NIH, CDC, PCORI, voluntary health organizations, foundations, and pharmaceutical/device companies.
