Dr. Angela Smith is one of five young surgeon-scientists chosen to participate in the Surgical Outcomes Club’s inaugural Research Fellowship program. The program matches promising junior investigators with senior leaders in surgical outcomes research for mentorship and career development activities. Dr. Smith will be mentored by Dr. David Penson from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Smith is currently working on a prospective study aiming to optimize the outcomes of older adults undergoing radical cystectomy, supported by a career development award from the National Institutes of Health. The Surgical Outcomes Club is a consortium of surgeons and scientists interested in advancing health services and outcomes research in surgery.
