About The Academy of Educators

Founded in 2006, the Academy of Educators (AOE) emphasizes teaching, supports faculty development, and promotes peer-to-peer leadership and teaching. Members of the AOE represent a diverse population across specialties and have grown to over 280 faculty and 100 residents.

The AOE teaching awards recognize the importance of excellence in medical student teaching, increase the prestige of great teachers, and make teaching a more viable part of a faculty member’s career path.

Awards can become an important part of the recipients’ teaching portfolios, can help support admission to the Academy of Educators, and can facilitate promotion and tenure decisions.
