Introduction

At UNC Urology we are looking for residents with integrity, an excellent intellectual foundation, and individuals who possess a strong work ethic with the ability to function in a dynamic team of caregivers.

We expect residents to be leaders in providing excellent patient care at UNC and its affiliated institutions and our residents will serve as ambassadors of our group locally, regionally, nationally, and as educators in our medical school.

Application Process

Positions are offered through the American Urological Association and applications must be submitted using the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) system. These are categorical positions which include the internship year.

Program Prerequisites

In order to be eligible for our urology residency training program, an applicant must:

  • Be a US citizen or hold a valid US immigration VISA that permits employment in the United States. The UNC Department of Urology does not provide sponsorship for any type of immigration VISA.
  • Successfully complete all United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) requirements. Please note, we equally value USMLE and COMLEX-USA for licensure.
  • Successfully complete a one-year internship in a General Surgery program designated by the UNC Department of Urology.
