UNC Urology is proud to announce the successful match of Dr. Brandon Wilson into our 2026–2028 Urologic Oncology Fellowship, following the 2025 Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) Fellowship Match.
A current urology resident at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Dr. Wilson brings a unique blend of clinical acumen, research productivity, and grassroots community engagement to Chapel Hill. His academic journey—from earning his MD at the Medical College of Georgia to his background in nursing—demonstrates a deeply rooted commitment to patient-centered care, particularly within underserved communities.
Dr. Wilson’s research portfolio spans both oncologic and functional urology. He has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications and national presentations, including studies on prostate cancer upgrading, mycosis fungoides of the penis, and myoepithelial carcinoma of the bladder. His recent work explores novel approaches to erectile dysfunction using low-intensity shockwave therapy, and he has been recognized with a Travel Award for his presentation on subtyping overactive bladder using fNIRS.
Beyond the clinic and lab, Dr. Wilson has demonstrated a powerful commitment to healthcare fairness and public education. He played a leadership role in “The Elevation Project,” a prostate cancer awareness and screening initiative focused on Black men in southwest Georgia. He has also served as a speaker and panelist for community events, including partnerships with churches to improve prostate cancer education.
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Wilson to UNC and look forward to the expertise and perspective he will bring to our fellowship and broader department.
We also extend our warm congratulations to Dr. Hannah Kay, a rising chief resident at UNC Urology, who also . Her excellence in research and clinical care continues to make us proud.
