Smoking is the only preventable cause of bladder cancer and is a well-known risk for complications. Continued cigarette use increases the risk of bladder cancer coming back. The risk association between e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco and bladder cancer is less well known. People who use electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) may have similar carcinogens in their urine as cigarette smokers that are linked to bladder cancer, according to study findings published in European Urology Oncology. Join Dr. Richard Matulewicz, MD (NYU Langone) and Marc Bjurlin, DO, MSC, FCOS (UNC Urology) to discuss.
Interested applicants to our residency program can participate in our regular Resident Conference and get a feel for who we are and what makes us unique.
We are holding an Open House where you will be able to interact with our Program Director, Current Residents, and Faculty. We hope that this event will be an opportunity to ask more specific questions about our program and learn more about why UNC Urology is a great program to train at.
