The UNC School of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development (FALD) is excited to present its new Professional Development Series, with the first session being led by the recently named Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development and UNC Urology faculty member Dr. Angela Smith.

The title of Dr. Smith’s presentation is “Harnessing your Habits to Work Smarter, Not Harder.” The event, to be held on March 23rd, 2023 from 4:30 – 5:30 PM in Bondurant Hall, Room 2025, is an interactive session that aims to help participants build good habits and break bad ones. The goal is to leave the session with a personalized strategy for creating the academic life you really want.


More About Dr. Smith

Dr. Angela Smith, a well-renowned academic urologist, brings a wealth of experience to the UNC School of Medicine’s FALD Professional Development Series. With numerous institutional and national roles and awards, Dr. Smith has established herself as a leader in her field. In addition to her appointment as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development, Dr. Smith has served as the Director of the Urologic Oncology Program and Director of the UNC Multidisciplinary Genitourinary Oncology Clinic. Her research focuses on improving the quality of care and outcomes for patients with genitourinary cancers, and she has authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Smith has also served in various leadership roles within the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology. Her accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association, the Presidential Citation Award from the Society of Urologic Oncology, and numerous UNC awards including the Yang Family Biomedical Scholar, Hettleman Prize, and the School of Medicine’s Teaching Excellence Award. With Dr. Smith’s vast expertise and experience, attendees can expect to gain valuable insights and actionable strategies for improving their work habits and achieving their academic goals.
