With numerous institutional and national roles and awards, Dr. Smith has established herself as a leader in her field. In addition to her appointment as the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development, Dr. Smith has served as the Director of the Urologic Oncology Program and Director of the UNC Multidisciplinary Genitourinary Oncology Clinic. Her research focuses on improving the quality of care and outcomes for patients with genitourinary cancers, and she has authored over 120 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Smith has also served in various leadership roles within the American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology. Her accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Gold Cystoscope Award from the American Urological Association, the Presidential Citation Award from the Society of Urologic Oncology, and numerous UNC awards including the Yang Family Biomedical Scholar, Hettleman Prize, and the School of Medicine&#8217;s Teaching Excellence Award.
