The Academy, established in October 2006, plays a pivotal role in fostering educational excellence through research, scholarship, and the development of innovative teaching methods. Members of the AOE are recognized for their outstanding contributions to medical education and their leadership in curriculum development.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Pham, a graduate of the UNC School of Medicine (2017), returned to the university as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at the end of 2023. Recently, Dr. Pham was part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/drs-arora-and-pham-graduate-from-leadership-in-academic-medicine-programs-lamp-first-interdisciplinary-cohort\/\">inaugural interdisciplinary Leadership in Academic Medicine Program (LAMP) 2023-2024 cohort<\/a>. The TAR HEEL program is designed to enhance the teaching skills of residents, promote cross-departmental collaboration, and increase scholarly activity.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Spratte\u2019s involvement in the TAR HEEL program reflects her strong commitment to medical education and leadership. She has actively participated in various educational and leadership initiatives, including serving as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/dr-brooke-spratte-selected-as-resident-representative-on-the-strategic-plan-steering-committee\/\">Resident Representative on the UNC School of Medicine&#8217;s Strategic Plan Steering Committee<\/a> and being selected for the prestigious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/unc-urology-trainees-spratte-and-walker-shine-at-aua-early-career-investigators-workshop\/\">American Urological Association\u2019s (AUA) Early Career Investigators Workshop<\/a>. Launched in 2019, the FLAGship program provides fellows and faculty with a platform to enhance their leadership skills, engage in educational projects, and connect with mentors within the Academy community.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in the FLAGship program commit to a nine-month journey of educational and leadership development, attending monthly sessions that include journal clubs, leadership workshops, and education-related discussions.
