This new role builds on her longstanding leadership in medical education and underscores the department\u2019s commitment to shaping the future of urologic training across all levels.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Borawski succeeds Dr. Eric Wallen in this role, following his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/dr-eric-wallen-appointed-chair-of-the-department-of-urology-at-the-medical-university-of-south-carolina\/\">appointment as Chair of the Department of Urology at the Medical University of South Carolina<\/a>, and is now positioned to carry forward and guide the department\u2019s educational mission across medical student education, residency training, and fellowship programs.<\/p>\n<h2>An Educator at Heart<\/h2>\n<p>Since joining UNC Urology in 2010, Dr. Borawski has distinguished herself as a thoughtful and innovative educator.\u00a0 \u00a0In addition to directing the medical student rotation in urology for many years, she has served as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/borawski-named-director-of-learning-environment-for-undergraduate-medical-education\/\">Director of the Learning Environment for Undergraduate Medical Education<\/a>, where she fosters supportive learning spaces for medical students across the UNC School of Medicine.\u00a0 Most recently in the department, she has taken up the responsibility of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/unc-urology-announces-dr-kristy-borawski-as-new-residency-program-director\/\">directing the residency program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Her teaching excellence has been recognized with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/dr-kristy-borawski-receives-aoes-craver-professor-award\/\">UNC Academy of Educators\u2019 Craver Medical Student Teaching Award<\/a>, and she was selected as a member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/dr-kristy-borawski-selected-for-newly-launched-leading-transformation-in-academic-medicine-ltam-program\/\">the inaugural Leading Transformation in Academic Medicine (LTAM) Program cohort<\/a>. Dr. Borawski is known not only for her clinical acumen but for her mentorship, humility, and ability to connect meaningfully with learners at all stages of training.\u00a0 Exemplary of her leadership by example in the clinical environment, she was selected as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.med.unc.edu\/urology\/borawski-awarded-friend-of-nursing-award\/\">UNC Medical Center Physician Friend of Nursing in 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Strategic Vision for Education Across the Continuum<\/h2>\n<p>As Vice Chair of Education, Dr. Borawski will lead the department\u2019s broader educational strategy, aligning curriculum development, academic policy, and professional development across medical student clerkships, the residency program, and fellowship offerings.<\/p>\n<p>This role reflects a holistic approach to education at UNC Urology, one that anticipates the evolving demands of urology practice and ensures that learners are well-prepared to meet them. From technological proficiency and research literacy to patient-centered communication and leadership development, the department\u2019s educational programs are designed to stay ahead of the field.<\/p>\n<h2>A Department Invested in the Future<\/h2>\n<p>Dr. Borawski\u2019s appointment reflects the department\u2019s deep and ongoing investment in academic excellence. With her leadership, UNC Urology continues to strengthen its position as a national leader in medical education, cultivating the next generation of urologists who are not only skilled clinicians but
