\"\"<\/a>UNC Urology is proud to announce that Dr. Hannah Kay, MD<\/a> (Residency Class of 2026), has successfully matched into the Urologic Oncology Fellowship at UC San Diego<\/a>\u2014a premier training program renowned for its excellence in cancer research and surgical innovation.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kay\u2019s fellowship match marks a remarkable milestone in a residency career already distinguished by numerous honors and high-impact contributions. She was named UNC Urology\u2019s \u201cResident of the Year\u201d in 2023<\/a> and received the department\u2019s \u201cExcellence in Research\u201d award in 2024<\/a>\u2014recognition of both her clinical acumen and scholarly achievements.<\/p>\n

Her research in bladder cancer survivorship has garnered national attention. Dr. Kay served as lead author on several impactful studies investigating the intersection of tobacco use and health-related quality of life in bladder cancer patients. Most notably, her abstract was one of only six selected from more than 3,000 submissions for the American Urological Association (AUA) 2023 Annual Meeting Press Program<\/a>. Her work alongside UNC faculty has bene published in respected journals such as The Journal of Urology<\/em><\/a> and Clinical Genitourinary Cancer<\/em><\/a>, and offers comprehensive data on how smoking impacts long-term quality of life in bladder cancer survivors.<\/p>\n

Dr. Kay\u2019s success highlights the strength of UNC Urology\u2019s commitment to training the next generation of academic leaders in urology. We congratulate her on this exceptional achievement and look forward to following her continued contributions to the field of urologic oncology.<\/p>\n
