She will spend a research year investigating the early integration of palliative care within the urologic oncology clinical setting, followed by a clinical year honing surgical expertise in complex urologic oncology cases. Starting after graduation from UNC&#8217;s urology residency program in 2020, Ben will be focusing primarily on urinary stricture disease, gender affirmation surgery, and genitoplastics under the tutelage of Dr. Jeremy Myers and colleagues at &#8220;The U&#8221;. Ben extends his sincere thanks to his mentors at UNC for their steadfast support and excellent surgical training. Under the guidance of numerous UNC faculty, Gopal developed a love for endourology \u2013 specifically stone disease, BPH and robotic surgery. He is the first resident from the Department of Urology to pursue an endourology fellowship. After his Chief year, he will head to Arizona to continue his training under the mentorship of Dr. Mitch Humphreys and the staff at the Mayo clinic.
