Dr. Matthew Nielsen<\/a><\/span> was recently appointed by the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS)<\/span><\/a> Board of Directors as the CMSS Representative to the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI)<\/span><\/a>. The PCPI, now independent from but principally supported by the AMA, focuses on measurement science, quality improvement, and registries, through the National Quality Registry Network. Together these programs help advance the study of performance measurement, fuel collaboration on performance improvement projects and increase access to relevant registry data. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Nielsen was nominated for this position by the <\/span>American Urological Association<\/span>, where he serves on the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Committee. In addition to his service with the AUA, he was a member of the <\/span>PCPI Outcomes Ad Hoc Committee<\/span> from 2013-2015.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his new role as CMSS representative to the PCPI, he will represent the CMSS\u2019 44 member societies, including the AUA, which in turn represent over 750,000 practicing physicians in the United States. This appointment has a three-year term. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Nielsen has been on the faculty of UNC Urology since 2009, currently serving as Associate Professor and Director of Urologic Oncology. In addition, he holds appointments as Adjunct Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
